The Ulster American Folk Park welcomes the Meath Travellers Workshops Living History Exhibition to our museum on Sunday 7th April!

The Meath Travellers Workshops have recreated a real-life, hands-on picture of the lives of travellers in 1950s Ireland. The scene includes a restored Barrel-top wagon, a traditional tent, a flat-cart and campfire. Activities include storytelling and bread making and visitors can explore the camp and spend time learning about traveller life in the past.

Irish travellers are seen by many as Ireland’s last Indigenous People and share a similar history with Indigenous Native Americans having both faced push back and institutional prejudice. Come and hear about Ireland’s internal migrants and hear their story told by them in their own words.
