Join Fiona McDonnell, the illustrator behind the Bad Bridget exhibition artwork, for a banner making workshop on Saturday 5th August!
This workshop will be a creative exploration in banner making for a cause you care about, or just a relaxing way to spend your afternoon. Taking the Bad Bridget exhibition as a starting point, we'll look at how to create an impactful slogan for your own banner, and some creative and fun techniques for designing them!
Learn how protest banners and slogans have been utilised throughout history at political and social movements to communicate a message of change, such as the suffragette movement. It was experiences that women such as our 'Bad Bridget's' had that led to such movements.
Bad Bridget tells the personal stories of women migrants from Ireland to the USA, and the persecution they faced during the 18th century. Their struggles, along with many others, ultimately led to women advocating for better living conditions, rights and equality in society through the suffragette movement and many other women-led protests.
